Australian Surf Life Saving Championships
The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will be from TBA 2015
First held in 1915 in heavy seas at Bondi, the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, now familiarly known as “The Aussies,” has grown into one of the nation’s premier sporting events. Today, almost 100 years on, it remains as a prestigious celebration of lifesaving in all forms of surf competition.
From the traditional surf boats, R and R and belt swimming, to the modern day Ironman and Ironwoman racing first introduced at Coolangatta in 1966, today over 10,000 competitors and club members make their annual pilgrimage to the host beach as they chase those elusive gold medals.
